Engraved in collective memory
Turning wheels that came to a halt
Abruptly, with no warning.
Speeding cars on the highways
Trains hurrying on their tracks.
Crowds of people filling the streets.
Laughing kids skateboarding in parks.
There was never enough time to do
all the working, shopping, cooking and cleaning.
Then March came shining rays of sun on empty shelves
and deserted streets.
There is plenty of time to do
All that was left undone.
Dreaming of the summer in my safe, sterile nest.
Touching the world through the computer screen.
